Bedtime Circus

This is just one of the many ways the daddy calms the children in preparation for bedtime. Sometimes it's like a three-ring circus around here-- especially when the baby gets in the act with his riding crop! He doesn't usually use it on his "horse," he applies it to whomever his "horse" is chasing!

What to do with American history?

We recently acquired some books on American history from a friend of ours who was cleaning out... including "The United States: A History" by John Clark Ridpath LLD. It's rather unique in our house compared to our other books because it was originally published in 1876- the year of Colorado's statehood, and our edition was published in 1891.  The bonus to this early date is that it is pretty much an unrevised history of the early U.S.  Regardless of how unique it is, it still needs a storage spot.  The book cases are full, so, viola! A wood crate turned on its side on a top shelf will serve as the American history "bookcase." So, of course the said crate had to be "American-ized" to fit the occasion. There is a second crate waiting, as well, that will most likely be "Colorado-ized" to sit next to it.
