A long, long time ago...

...I used to blog on a semi-regular basis, but then, well, you can see by the dates that it's been a while. Let's see- our camera broke, and then some got sick, we had a birthday in the family, and then we ALL got sick (a severe flu- whatever kind it was, we're all stronger for it!), and then we started moving, and being involved in events, and more moving, and well... what can I say except that the camera is still broken, 40% of our stuff is still in boxes, and we're now renting a duplex that should serve us well for the time being! Thus being said, it is time to catch up!

SLEDDING ON NEW YEAR'S DAY

Who needs a tow-rope when Daddy's around?!

A day or two after this, a friend of ours suggested that we go sledding at a near-by park. Her statement was that the hill there was very gentle- good for small children like ours. Well, it was a good hill, gentle for smallish children. What she didn't know was that we had already sent our children careening down this death-defying hill on the other side of town! Okay, Silas was the only one who actually went down by himself. He's somewhat of a thrill-seeker. Amelie went once, and then hung out at the top until I plopped her into the sled with me for one last run down to the bottom so we could go to the car. Of course, it was then that she decided sledding was worth the heart-pounding, tummy-losing thrill and she wanted to go again.
Mr. Cool-Dude (note his sister's heart-shaped sun-goggles that he's wearing) at the bottom of one of his runs.

I managed to snap these photos before the camera died. I think the cold finally frizzled a weak connection.

AMELIE'S 3rd BIRTHDAY

A great big, three years old! She is growing so fast! We look back and wonder that it has really been three years.
Amelie likes kitty-cats, so we enjoyed spelt/kamut cupcakes for her birthday.
Nothing like a bit of whole-grain chocolate goodness!
(We borrowed a camera for this special occasion.)

A FEW MORE PHOTOS OF THE KIDS

Sunday afternoons at Grandpa and Grandma V's house.
Nothing says fun like the toys at Grandpa and Grandma's!!!

Mr. Josiah- crawling, pulling himself up, teething (five teeth by 8 months), eating... well, not really! This is the boy who refuses anything given on a spoon. If it arrives in his mouth on a spoon, the result is shuddering, faces, clamping shut of the mouth, spitting, turning his head away, and/or crying (any combination of the above). So far we've stuck with rice cereal, bananas, and slightly cooked egg yolk. I think he will be fine with food once he can shovel it in himself. Case and point, he seems to have his pincher grasp down, and tried some salmon at supper tonight! Hurray!!! (We clapped for him, and wouldn't you know it- he clapped right back.) There were no faces- just lots of smiles! A light has dawned on the horizon...
