Oatland Island Wildlife Center

She caught a fly and tied it with a hair, which she tied to the pencil...
...and she earned $5 as this has been a long-standing offer from me:
tie a fly to a pencil so that it can still fly, and I'll pay up $5.
She did it- and it flew!

 Oatland Island Wildlife Center... started as a plantation (the property), the building was built to be a retirement center for railroad conductors, and was owned by the CDC as a treatment, research and development center, and is now owned by the Georgia State Board of Education.

8 month old alligator- he will make a peeping noise for another
year or two to gain protection from any maternal-feeling
mama alligators nearby.

A Flying Squirrel- they're apparently as common as the gray squirrel-
we just don't see them because they are nocturnal.
They can glide 3 feet for every one foot up in height from which they jump.
They're a lot more accurate in their landings than wing suit gliders!

Broken-beaked and brain damaged from being in a tree
when it was felled- rescued and fed cut up mouse at the
wildlife center.

Babies in the nest!

Not only are there vultures (David saw one on the ground
near our house) but there are bald eagles in Georgia.
The eagles here are smaller than the ones in Alaska
(Bergmann's Rule).
